USG Jeffrey D. Feltman arrived in Burundi

01 February 2013 - The Under-Secretary-General for Political Affairs, Jeffrey D. Feltman, arrives this Friday in Burundi for a brief visit. He will meet with the President of Burundi, Pierre Nkurunziza tomorrow.

UNDAF 2012-2016’s signature ceremony

UN agencies representatives during the signature ceremony of the new UNDAF in Bujumbura. The new agreement UNDAF is based in the country’s strategy to combat poverty (CSLP II) discussed with donors at Geneva’s Partners Conference, in October 2012, and focused on good governance, economy growth and improvement of basic services access. Within the UNDAF 2012-2016, the United Nations system will provide and help mobilize $600 million to support Burundi. 



United Nations to continue back Burundi in tackling corruption

10 December 2012 - The Special Representative of the Secretary-General today reminded the UN readiness to continue support Burundian institutions in promoting good governance and combat against corruption initiatives, namely the revision of the anti-corrption legal framework and encoutraged civil society’s participation in the fight against corruption in Burundi.

Nairobi, 2 October 2012: Burundi’s experience of security sector reform has much to teach the world – that was one conclusion of a panel discussion that took place on 2 October 2012 at a “High Level Panel on the Challenges and Opportunities of Security Sector Reform (SSR) in East Africa,” held at the United Nations Office in Nairobi (UNON). The meeting discussed comparative experience in reform in Burundi, Somalia and South Sudan.
