22 October 2014 - For the third time since its adoption at a workshop organized in March 2013 by the Government of Burundi and the United Nations Office in Burundi (BNUB), the implementation of the Roadmap towards 2015 elections will be assessed on Thursday 23 October 2014 in Gitega.

Gitega's meeting is organized the Minister of Interior and BNUB and aims, among others, to evaluate the Roadmap's implementation since May 2014's workshop; help improve understanding of the interactions between 2015 electoral process stakeholders of 2015; and strengthening dialogue and democratic culture.

Adopted in March 2013, the Roadmap towards 2015 elections is made of 42 recommendations focusing on the elections legal framework; environment, management and conduct of the elections; and monitoring mechanism.

The Roadmap first evaluation was held from 27 to 29 November 2013 in Bujumbura. Participants welcomed the results of the workshops organized as part of the implementation of the Roadmap, namely in Kayanza on the revision of the electoral code and in Bujumbura on the political environment.

The second evaluation of the Roadmap took place on 20 May 2014 and brought together all parties and political actors and civil society, and led to the signature of a Code of conduct.
