Burundi celebrated Global Open Day

23 December 2013 - The Government of Burundi and the UN system marked the Global Open Day on Women Peace and Security. At an event held on 20 December in Bujumbura, representatives of women from all over the country shared Burundian women views on the challenges and priorities regarding the implementation of Resolution 1325 in the country.

UN Office calls on political to show restraint during the debate on the Constitution

4 December 2013 – The United Nations Office in Burundi (BNUB) calls on all Burundian political parties and actors to show restraint with respect to the ongoing constitutional review process. It also welcomes the government’s commitment to encourage to promote dialogue before the adoption of important instruments, particularly the Constitution and the Electoral Code, in the spirit of the recommendations of the roadmap.

27 November 2013 – The Government of Burundi will put in place mechanisms of dialogue to enable all political partners contribute to the debate over the revision of the country’s Constitution, Burundian First Vice President Bernard Busokoza today told participants at a political meeting in Bujumbura.

26 November 2013 – The Roadmap towards Burundi 2015 elections adopted early this year will be assessed this week by Burundian political parties and actors in a 3-day meeting organized by the Government of Burundi and the United Nations Office in Burundi (BNUB).
